How to select the crystal

 

Today is the post about how to choose the crystal.

In the past weeks, I have inquired many crystal factories, got some samples, and done tests.

Based on my past experience, I will share some tips on choosing crystals.

 

l First, the crystal material

For the green laser inner engraving, we need a good artificial crystal material, which must be a good quality K9 crystal. Also, be careful with the new material. I am not saying all of the new material is not good. However, most of the new material is to save the production costs.

If you want to give a big order to a crystal factory, you should first get some samples to test with the machine.

 

l Second, the purer level of the crystal

Why should the crystal be pure, no bubble, no impurity? Because the impurity will block the laser going in the crystal and break the image.

Then, how to check if the crystal is pure or not? Shine a flashlight on it and observe it.

Let me give you a sample.

 

 

 

I put the camera of my mobile phone very close to the crystal. Please observe the crystals on the left and right. The crystal on the left is purer, and there are many small white spots in the crystal on the right. This is because the light is blocked and reflected when passing through the crystal. The formation of this phenomenon is similar to the Tyndall effect.

These impurities can also hinder the laser when engraving, destroying the image.

 

l Third, Irregular crystal

In order to make more beautiful crystal crafts, more and more people are turning their attention to special-shaped crystals. However, all machine calculations are based on square crystals. Engraving irregular-shaped crystals is about imagining that the crystal is actually a square and carving patterns within the effective plane.

 

l Fourth, the process of the crystal

Although the material is good, there may still be a problem when the final crystal process step. We usually call it calcination. If this process is not good, the crystal will have stripe agglomeration. It can’t be seen by the eyes and light, but when engraving, the stripe agglomeration can’t be lasered, and the image will also have stripes.

Like when you engrave a human face, the face will have a scar. That scar is the stripe agglomeration.

 

l Fifth, cut edge of the crystal

Just as cutting the gem to make it beautiful, cutting the edge of the crystal can also make the crystal beautiful. Cut-edge also divides into little edge cutting or big edge cutting.

 

 

 

One more adding knowledge for crystal shipping. K9 Crystal needs a special production environment. So if someone wants to get a good and good price crystal, they are only choice is to purchase from China. However, the crystal is heavy, so if they don't ship it by sea, the cost for every crystal will be huge high and that will reduce your ability to get a profit.

However, in my experience, sea shipping is not always cheaper to all the delivery addresses. The popular areas, like North America and Europe, have better shipping costs by sea.

Anyway, your cost leads to your price policy. It is the same thing in the world, the same thing has different price in the different area.
